Around 500 cherry blossom trees bloom in the spring

Hagi Castle

  • Other

Hagi Castle was constructed by the samurai lord Mōri Terumoto, and served as the base of the Choshu domain for over 250 years. The castle grounds contain around 500 cherry blossom trees that bloom in the spring, and is also home to the Midoriyoshino, a rare variety of cherry blossom tree that is only found in Hagi city. Be sure to visit the donjon ruins, the stone Bansei-bashi bridge, and the tea house that was moved here in 1889.
